THE LEAGUE

The OTHL was founded in 2004 when four fantasy hockey league fanatics decided to form a league. The league was named the Old Time Hockey League, or OTHL, since all four guys were fans of the history of the game. Since that day, the OTHL has been a league striving to have a active group of general managers, who all love the game of hockey. Both in real life and in its digital, fantasy form.

FHL ERA

During the first four seasons, the OTHL used the FHL (fhlsim.com) simulator to play out the games. And while the OTHL played it's first season during the NHL lockout, it was still a success with 30 general managers all battling for the cup. Since the NHL had not installed a salary cap, due to the lockout, the OTHL used it's own salary cap. When the NHL returned to the ice in the 2005-2006 season with a salary cap, the OTHL adjusted to the NHL and installed the NHL's salary cap structure.

STHS ERA

After the 2007-2008 season, the OTHL migrated from the FHL simluator to the STHS (sths.simont.info) simulator. The STHS offered more flexibility and since the FHL sim had stopped being developed, it was a natural move for the league. At the same time the OTHL also moved from it's old website, to using the STHS Web Portal. Which it still uses. After the 2010-2011 season, the OTHL will take it's next step, as the league will upgrade to v2 of the STHS Sim and at the same time also upgrade to v2 of the STHS Web Portal.
